Gene Glasco, Vietnam War veteran and elected Arcadia City Clerk, will preview the Vietnam War Monument at the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce meeting. The dedication ceremony for the memorial will be Saturday, May 28 at Los Angeles County Park.

Bowling icon Jackie Henney, 93, continues to roll with favorite hobby. For more than 60 years, long-time Arcadia resident Henney has bowled, taught and organized leagues in San Gabriel Valley. John Pomazi of Temple City owns a business called Antique Radios at 125 E. Santa Clara Street in Arcadia. He collects and repair antique radios. He may have the only business of this kind in the San Gabriel Valley.
The Westfield Santa Anita mall will be adding new tenants and is expected to submit plans for a new anchor store. Red Robin restaurant is scheduled to open in the open-air Promenade section by the end of the year. Forever 21 may move into the Robinsons May space and Target may be an anchor store.
Two shot to death Wednesday morning, August 1, in the alley near 816 Sunset Boulevard in Arcadia. Los Angeles Sheriff Department says it looks like a murder-suicide. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the second victim later died at hospital from self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Later identified as Mel Liu and Cherry Liu, an estranged married couple.
The California Second District Court of Appeals rejected Mulji Patel's claim that the restitution awarded to Erwin Nepomuceno for $20,250 in lost earnings was excessive. Patel was convicted in March 2009 on two counts of assaults with a deadly weapon for the January 31, 2006 attack on Nepomuceno, a workers' compensation attorney. Patel was a Rockwell International employee and a jury found him sane at the time. Patel was sentenced in May 2009 to 12 years in state prison.
Arcadia welcomes the 49th Pasadena Showcase House of Design. The house will be a 1941 Monterey Colonial house designed by renowned architect Roland E. Coate. It will be renovated by Southern California's prominent interior and exterior designers and will open for public tours April 21-May 19, 2013. The showcase house is a fundraiser that supports bringing music and art programs to children.
Based on the description and surveillance video, Arcadia police believe the same man may have robbed two 7-Eleven stores this month. The most recent robbery took place on May 20 at the 7-Eleven at Live Oak and Tyler Avenues. The previous crime occurred on May 10 at the 7-Eleven at 1003 S. Baldwin Avenue in Arcadia.
