Arcadia High School requests move to Rio Hondo League, although its first preference is to keep the Pacific League as is. The changes would go into effect for the 2014-2015 school year. Arcadia High School's request to leave Pacific League is contingent upon Crescenta Valley High School joining the Rio Hondo League, which is currently made up of Blair, La Canada, Monrovia, San Marino, South Pasadena, and Temple City High Schools. The Pacific League is made up of Arcadia High School, Burbank, Burroughs, Crescenta Valley, Glendale, Hoover, Muir, and Pasadena.
Arcadia Beautiful's holiday decoration awards will be given December 15. Winners will receive a yard sign, holiday gift, and a personal visit from the Santa Squad.
Annual Taste of Arcadia, an Arcadia Chamber of Commerce event, will take place Monday, September 19 at the Los Angeles County Arboretum. As always, a percentage of proceeds goes to three local non-profit organizations. This year, the beneficiaries are Assistance League of Arcadia, the Boy Scouts of America/Lucky Baldwin District, and the Arboretum Foundation.

Arcadia Welfare and Thrift celebrates 80 years with a ceremonial ribbon cutting. Pictured are Arcadia Mayor Robert Harbicht, Arcadia Welfare and Thrift President Terry Totten, and a large group of supporters and friends. The store has helped the less fortunate, particularly the homeless.
Arcadia hosts inaugural holiday tree lighting and dedication on Saturday, December 5 at 5:00 PM at Arcadia Transit Plaza at corner of Santa Clara Street and North First Avenue. Features the dedication of the Deodar Cedar as the official Holiday Tree by the Arcadia City Council and the Arcadia Beautiful Commission.
Arcadia American Little League Minors Angels make history with an undefeated record this season. Angels include Guy Gruppie, Sr., Manager Don McIntire, Coach Bon Meeks, Sean lee, Baily Shen, Will Meeks, Will Covey, Ryan Nguyen, Brandon Lustig, Nick Patton, Brandon Williams, Michael Gruppie, Michael Easter, Matt McIntyre (or McIntire), and Carter Jones.
