Simply the best--the Arcadia High School Marching Band is one of California's top high school marching bands, has won more than 30 major championships, marched in Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade 14 times, the 2005 Presidential Inauguration, and appeared in an NFL commercial during Super Bowl last spring.
City gives thumbs up for Arroyo Pacific Academy's expansion. It is a private college preparatory high school for local and international students. it is currently at 41 West Santa Clara Street.

Due to lower enrollment, Immaculate Conception School (K-4th grades) in Monrovia and Annunciation School (5th-8th grades) in Arcadia will merge their resources and student bodies to stay open.

Bristol Palin, daughter of Sarah Palin, the former Vice Presidential candidate in the 2008 presidential elections, came to speak at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Arcadia for "Lovefest 9," an annual 2-day church event that focuses on teens and values. Her message was about abstinence.

Jockeys from Santa Anita Park played a charity basketball game against Holy Angels School, to benefit Holy Angels School of Arcadia and the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund.
Arcadia High School Apaches cross country athletes dominated at the 8th annual Apaches Invitational at Arcadia County Park. Catrina McAlister won the three-mile race in 16:25, that was 10 seconds faster than her previous best. Ammar Moussa tied his own course record and the Apaches boys took the first five positions in winning the invitational.
Support grows to reinstate the suddenly fired Arcadia High School boys' cross country coach James O'Brien. He has led the Apaches cross country team to two state and two national titles in the last three years. More than 200 supporters attended the district board of education meeting.
