Erica Wu's parents are ready to cheer for their daughter, competing in table tennis in the summer Olympics in London, UK, on August 3. Wu, 16, was born and raised in Arcadia and attends Westridge School in Pasadena.
The San Gabriel Valley is well represented at this summer's Games of the XXX Olympiad in London, UK. Seven Americans call the SGV home. They are Kim Rhode, Alex Morgan, Dominic Breazeale, Joseph Diaz, Jr., Tony Gunawan, Erica Wu (Arcadia) and Rena Wang (Arcadia).
Erica Wu, a Westridge School student who lives in Arcadia, earned the United States' third and final Olympic berth by placing third at the North American Table Tennis trials two weeks ago in Cary, NC. She will go to the London Olympics 2012. Her teammates are Ariel Hsing of San Jose and Lily Zhang of Palo Alto.
15-year-old Arcadia resident Erica Wu, a student at Westridge School, will compete in table tennis (ping pong) at the Pan American Games this month in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Obituary/death notice. Alice Zhang, an Arcadia High School student, was struck and killed by a car driven by a 20 year-old in the 600 block of Duarte Road. Her 16 year-old friend from Upland was seriously injured.

Arcadia High School senior pitcher K.J. Edson was named 2011 Star-News Player of the Year. Junior Brendan Campbell was also named a 2011 All-Area Baseball player.
Local Arcadia ice skater Mirai Nagasu, a 16-year-old who is home-schooled, is part of the United States ice skating team going to Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympics. She has no aspirations for a medal, but is fulfilling a dream by just going to compete. Two years ago, when Nagasu was a freshman at Arcadia High School, she won the 2008 U.S. title in St. Paul, MN.
Decision 2018: Arcadia's April election is for three City Council seats, for Districts 2, 3 and 5, for 4-year terms. Candidates are Tom Beck, Roger Chandler, Robert Harbicht, Joyce Platt, Sho Tay, and Jolly Wu.
Arcadia High School sophomore Veronica Yamane is the Star-News Runner of the Year. Senior Alejandra Quintero is named to the first team of the 2011All-Area Cross Country girls team. Glindyll Mancia, an Arcadia junior is on the second team.
