Search continues for missing Arcadia firefighter/paramedic Michael Herdman. He went missing last weekend in the Sespe Wilderness Area outside Fillmore, CA. Herdman is 36 years old and a 7 year veteran of the Arcadia Fire Department.
The body of missing Arcadia firefighter Mike Herdman was found by rescuers in the Sespe Wilderness yesterday. He went missing June 13. Cause of death is pending an autopsy. Herdman would have turned 37 tomorrow. He is survived by a wife and 6-year-old daughter.
Missing Arcadia firefighter Mike Herdman's lost dog has been found near the Dough Flats portion of the Los Padres National Forest, near the campsite where Herdman disappeared June 13. Arcadia firefighter Michael Herdman, who went missing and was found dead on June 27 at the bottom of a cliff in Los Padres National Forest, had drugs in his system when he died. Ventura County Medical Examiner toxicology report said he had alcohol, Ecstasy, and Adderall in his body.
Arcadia firefighter/paramedic Michael Herdman was remembered as a devoted father and animal lover, at a memorial service yesterday, at Arcadia Performing Arts Center. Hundreds attended. The body of missing Arcadia firefighter Mike Herdman was found yesterday by rescuers in the Sespe Wilderness, after disappearing on June 13. He was identified by dental records. Body was found 1,200 feet above the Sespe River Bottom, where he and fellow Arcadia firefighter Taylor Byars were camping. He is survived by a wife, Bridget Herdman, and 6-year-old daughter.
Missing Arcadia man Julius ("Cotton") Tinsley, 81, was found dead down a ravine at a turnout on Highway 18, about 2 miles north of the Snow Valley Ski Area. Julius Tinsley trained race horses for 54 years before retiring in 2000.
The Firefighters' Associations of San Marino, San Gabriel and South Pasadena helped to raise $17,000 in scholarship money for the young daughter of Mike Herdman, who died from a fall in the wilderness.
Arcadia firefighter Mike Herdman died instantly after falling from a cliff in the Sespe Wilderness of the Los Padres National Forest. Robert Michael Mendez was arrested for attempted murder and kidnapping of his estranged girlfriend, on the 1500 block of South Santa Anita Avenue, near Camino Real Avenue.
Wind-swept cities slowly recover from a severe windstorm that blew through the San Gabriel Valley early Thursday morning. Arcadia was hit hard and "city crews and contracts are continuing to work hard to clean roadways," said Arcadia police Lieutenant Tom Leveque. Road closures that remained in effect in Arcadia on Friday morning included: westbound Colorado Street at Santa Anita Avenue; westbound Camino Real Avenue at El Monte Avenue; Longden Avenue between El Monte Avenue and Holly Avenue; Colorado Place between Colorado Boulevard and Huntington Drive; the 200 block of W. Leroy Street; the 1100 block of S. Fifth Avenue.
The Beltran family struggles after losing their home in a fire in February. It was a house they were renting in the 1500 block of 10th Avenue in Arcadia. The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in property loss and roughly $50,000 in content damage.
