Arcadia Police make arrest in assault case. Eighteen-year-old former Arcadia High School student Dylan Chan accused of various crimes, including using a minor for sexual acts. Allegedly recorded himself and, current and former female students, having sex.One alleged victim said it was without her knowledge and the suspect distributed the video in an online group chat with fellow students. Arcadia police are investigating and Arcadia High School's principal Angie Dillman believes sexual assault is pervasive in society and in listening to student voices to guide change.

Hunt continues for gunman in Arcadia car-to-car shooting on the 210 Freeway near Baldwin Avenue which left a woman named Betty Hernandez, 36, of Monrovia, dead. This shut down the freeway for several hours on September 4. On September 5, two people were found dead, in the block of 600 West Huntington Drive, an apparent murder-suicide. Both victims were in their 50s.
Family of murder victim Chyong Jen Tsai, left appalled by District Attorney George Gascon's reforms. Man accused in slaying facing a shorter sentence of 32 years and 4 months-to-life in prison if convicted, instead of life in prison without parole if prosecuted with "special circumstances." Gascon wants judge to dismiss two special circumstance allegations against the accused. Tsai was killed April 9, 2019 at her Arcadia home.
Fong out to early lead in election. Democrat Mike Fong garners 70% of first votes, is ahead by 39 percentage points in the 49th Assembly District race against Republican Burton Brink. The 49th District is comprised of 10 San Gabriel Valley cities, including Arcadia. The seat was vacated by Ed Chau-D-Monterey Park, who left his post early for an appointment to the Los Angeles County Superior Court judge's bench.
USC Arcadia Hospital announces leadership changes. The appointments will "better serve its community and align with Keck Medicine of USC health system." Colleen Wilcoxen, is now chief nursing officer. Robert Begg has been named Vice President of Human Resources and will supervise workforce training and development. Judge found that a man was sane at the time of the bludgeoning deaths of his then-estranged wife's two teenage nephews in the boys' Arcadia home. Deyun Shi is on trial for the murders of 15-year-old Anthony Lin, who was asleep when attacked with bolt cutters, and 16-year-old brother William Lin, who was killed while studying in a separate room, on January 22, 2016. Shi was found giulty on two counts of first-degree murder.

A 38-year-old Los Angeles man, accused of setting four arson fires in Arcadia and of carjacking a woman trying to move her car away from one of the fires, is arrested. The first fire was in a rear corridor on the second floor of The Shops at Santa Anita mall, at 400 South Baldwin Avenue at 11:40 A.M. on Friday. The other three fires were in the vicinity of the 900 block of Arcadia Avenue.

Lawsuit filed against the City of Arcadia seeking an injunction against Mayor Sho Tay running for re-election on the November 2022 ballot. The City of Arcadia Charter limits City Council to two consecutive terms. He was appointed to City Council in 2018 when he ran unopposed for District 3. The suit challenges whether or not the term limits apply to Mayor Sho Tay, who is running for a third time.
