Equestfest thrills thousands in parade prelude. Equestrian units participating in the annual Tournament of Roses Parade took part in Equestfest, presented by Santa Anita Park yesterday. It was hosted at Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank. One unit was the Spirit of the West Riders, based in Arcadia, California.
The Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade 2021 was canceled, but the show goes on for Rose Parade bands. PCC Band Director Kyle Luck and Arcadia High School Apache Marching Band Director Kevin Sherrill coordinated and edited a Zoom virtual performance starring Kermit the Frog and their student musicians for broadcast.
Election 2022. Tallies continue for city council races in San Gabriel Valley. Semi-official results for Arcadia:
District 2--Sharon Kwan in lead with 42%, Bob Harbicht with 31%, Tracy Jensen Han with 25%.
District 3--Eileen Wang has 61%, Sheng Chang has 38%.
District 5--Dr. Michael Cao has 42%, Jason J. Lee has 33%, Michael Danielson has 21%, Daniel Malki has less than 10%.
The Marching bands in the 2021 Tournament of Roses Parade have been announced. Arcadia High School's Apache Marching Band and Color Guard will participate in the 2021 Rose Parade. See also Mountain Views News, p. 3, March 7, 2020.
Your step-by-step guide to the Rose Parade entries lists Spirit of the West Riders, an equestrian unit from Arcadia, at number 16. Also, at number 24, the Scripps Miramar Ranch equestrian unit will be accompanied by Santa Anita Park bugler Jay Cohen.
Pasadena City College Board. Three challengers hold leads over incumbents in the recent primary election. In Trustee Area 7, Incumbent Anthony Fellow and Alton Wang, a legal advocate focused on improving representation in government for communities across the country, hope to represent the city of Arcadia on the college's Board of Trustees. Wang led early in a tight race. Both Fellow and Wang recognize the importance of the issues of housing insecurity and increasing access to college courses in the wake of declining enrollment at PCC. Rose Parade 2024. SOI RV Club is a primo event for RV enthusiasts. The Sports Coach Owners International (SOI) has been organizing Rose Parade rallies for 45 years. They park at Santa Anita Park and attend multiple events including Equestfest, Bandfest, and some horse racing at the track.

Congressional races: a look at the positions taken by candidates in local districts. In District 28, Democratic Rep. Judy Chu, is now running to represent a recently redrawn district that includes Alhambra, Monterey Park, Rosemead, and Arcadia. Her major issues include education, foreign policy, small business, and transportation. Her opponent is Republican Wes Hallman, a pilot and senior vice president of Strategy and Policy for the National Defense Industrial Association.

Never a dull day for Pasadena Humane Society's animal control officers. Officer Greg Murphy has been working this area for decades, and has rescued animals from Rose Bowl, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Los Angeles County Arboretum, Descanso Gardens, and other landmarks.
