All work on the east end of the Foothill Freeway in Pasadena should be completed in mid-February. Trains have been using the freeway median since August 12, 1975.
Construction is stalled on a $11.9 million project to build sound walls on a stretch of the westbound 210 Foothill Freeway, between Baldwin Avenue and Rosemead Boulevard, but work is expected to resume soon. The delay is due to inaccurate design plans that are being modified.
Eighty signed petitions urging construction of a sound wall barrier from Santa Anita Avenue east to Fifth Avenue were presented at a recent Arcadia City Council meeting.
Council balks at ramp metering plan. Arcadia City Council Tuesday night approved a staff recommendation to file an amendment to the Regional Transportation Improvement Program with the county Transportation Commission. Council will ask that instead of proposed ramp metering on 210 Freeway, a fifth lane should be installed.
Sound barriers closer to reality. Following the last City Council meeting, well-attended by embattled residents, Mayor Dennis Lojeski said he had scheduled a meeting on the subject with Assemblyman Dick Mountjoy, R-Arcadia.
Assemblyman Richard Mountjoy, R-Arcadia, will sponsor an amendment to the Los Angeles County Transportation Improvement Program to provide for construction of noise attenuation barriers along Foothill Freeway in Arcadia.
The City Council has decided to spend about $100,000 for vines on the 4.5 miles of sound walls the Metropolitan Transportation Authority will build along the 210 Freeway in 2004-2005.
Metro to improve 210 Freeway barriers, after a series of crashes over the last 2 years involved cars and trucks landing on the Gold Line tracks. Metro plans to install taller, stronger barriers and a detection system on 6 miles of right-of-way down the middle of the 210 Freeway in Pasadena and Arcadia.
