Three city-owned lots at 521 N. First Avenue, adjacent to the Foothill Freeway, were sold last week by the Arcadia City Council to the W. D. Wilson Co., which will construct a building on the site and move from its present location in South Pasadena. James J. Melas, president of the W. D. Wilson Co. and an Arcadia resident said his firm deals in sophisticated biomedical supplies and unusual alloys and fittings for medical instruments. Selling price was $41,500. The city originally purchased the lots from the state Department of Highways for $33,000.
Nina Crow was crowned Miss Arcadia, the queen of the Arcadia Tournament of Roses Association Royal Court. She will represent Arcadia in the January 1, 1976 Pasadena Rose Parade. The princesses of the Royal Court are Juli Hageman, Lauren Hageman, Patricia Tiffany, and Shannon Wabnig.
An application for state funds to help build a commuter or light rail station in the city has been approved by the City Council. The grant would pay 50% of construction costs, excluding the money needed to buy land.
MarrLin Greathouse, 17, of Arcadia High School, was crowned Miss Arcadia. She and her royal court will represent the city on the Arcadia float in the Pasadena Rose Parade on New Year's Day, 1980.
