The Library Board approved a budget of $5000 to purchase more Asian reading materials. Rose Hwang, the librarian in charge of the Asian language collection said the money will buy at least 600 new books.
Tiny books tell stories in a way all their own. Doris Selmer and Jerome Selmer, avid collectors of miniature books, have just published "The First Museum of Los Angeles," a miniature book about the Southwest Museum.
The city's new graffiti removal program has logged at least 72 cases since Jan. 28 in which residents have asked the city to remove graffiti free of charge. In November, for the first time, the City Council allocated $20,000 for graffiti removal.
The library reopens after the expansion/renovation project with grand re-opening events. Alexis Powers and Gloria Horstman will present book reviews, David Monty will perform a magic show, and many family activities are planned for November 16-22.

A new $340,000 computer system will be installed in the library. using Inlex software and Hewlet Packard hardware, the library will automate the card catalog and the circulation desk providing better control of the library's 150,000 books and 240 periodicals.
A new or improved public library could become a reality in the near future. The current library is bursting at the seams with increasing amounts of books, computer equipment and an increasing number of people using the 28-year-old library.
Arcadia High students have fond memories of dead teacher. Ken Aberle, 42, died on June 2 at the City of Hope after a nine-month battle with leukemia. About 150 students gave blood at Arcadia Methodist Hospital.
