Foothill Intercity Newspapers will be part of the merger of Knight Newspapers Inc. and Ridder Publication. This merger will make the company one of the largest chains in the state.
Richard Singer was named editor & associate publisher of Foothill Inter-City Newspapers, publishers of the Arcadia Tribune. He replaces Wanda Tucker, who retired on May 16.
200 people turned out to honor retired Arcadia Tribune editor, Helen Schrader. The retirement party included mayors and public officials from surrounding communities served by the Foothill Inter-City newspapers which were edited by Mrs. Schrader.

Traces of history of the brick building on North First which was recently torn down. Built in the mid-1920's, it housed a restaurant, laundry, and various newspapers including the Tribune. Eventually the Post Office took over the entire building.
Helen Schrader, editor of the Arcadia Tribune and the Foothill Inter-City Newspapers, is retiring Friday, August 10, 1984. An Arcadia resident for the past 40 years, she has served as editor since 1964. Mrs. Schrader is the widow of Arcadia author, Del Schrader. Biographical notes included.
Following the format of a meeting "agenda", the Arcadia Board of Education celebrated the career of retiring Arcadia Schools Superintendent Terry Towner.
Measure A a cause for concern for some, relief for others. Senior citizens may receive exemption. Measure A was placed on the ballot by Arcadia Board of Education.
