The Rotary Club of Arcadia made its annual Christmas caravan bearing food and gifts to the Lazero Cardenas Orphanage and the Santa Teresita Home near Tijuana, Mexico. A new all-purpose building, financed and built by the Arcadia and Tijuana Rotary Clubs, was dedicated at Lazero.
The Arcadia Rotary Club has announced a major building program at the Casa Hogar Lazaro Cardenas, an orphan's home in Tijuana, Mexico for 100 children. Members of the Tijuana Rotary Club have agreed to provide one-third of the costs of the project.

Arcadia teachers are eligible for mini-grants of $100-300 under a program being implemented by the Arcadia Rotary Club. The program will provide funds to district teachers for special projects beginning in February. All teachers, from kindergarten to 12th grade, are eligible to apply.
Congressman David Dreier was made an honorary member of the Arcadia Rotary Club. Dreier, chair of the House Rules Committee, commended the Rotarians for a service project underway in Uganda that will bring water to a village.
Arcadia Rotary to raise funds to renovate Fort Rotary-Camp Trask. Tallman H. Trask Scout Reservation in dire need of repairs after years of neglect. It is located in the area above Monrovia Canyon. Fort Rotary was built in 2003.
The Arcadia Rotary Club awarded grants totaling $4,990 to 17 teachers at the February 13 Arcadia Board of Education meeting. Grants ranging from $175 to $300 were given to individual teachers to help with special classroom projects. The teachers represented 5 of the 6 Arcadia elementary schools, all 3 junior high schools and both Arcadia and Huntington high schools.
There’s something about Mary. Mary Hansen (photo) honored by Arcadia Rotary Club with the Paul Harris Fellow award for service “above and beyond,” according to Arcadia Rotary Club President Pat Dolphin. Mary was also selected as 2018 Senior of the Year because of her 46-plus years of volunteer work throughout Arcadia.
Lee Shimmin honored by Arcadia Rotary Club and Arcadia City Council as City of Arcadia 2019 Senior of the Year for his contributions and service as a volunteer to the community.

Arcadia Woman's Club hosted its annual appreciation luncheon for Arcadia's first responders from the Arcadia Police Department and Arcadia Fire Department. About 80 members of APD and AFD attended.
