According to final campaign contribution statements for the April 18 school board election, the candidates who raised the most money got the least number of votes. Results are analyzed.
Election for three school board seats slated for Tuesday. The candidates are Mike Allison, department store manager; Jim Bryant, engineer with Jet Propulsion; Bob Kladifko, high school principal in Los Angeles; and Marilyn Perkins, elementary school teacher in El Monte.
Filing opens December 26 for candidates for three seats on the School Board. The seats up for re-election are: Lewis May - just completed his first 4 year term; George Frempter - 8 years; Gloria Horstman - appointed to fill the vacancy created by the death of Gary Mills. The election will be held April 5.
As required by election regulations, the candidates for the Arcadia City Council have filed statements showing contributions they have received and expenditures they have made.
Two candidates, Bob Kladifko (2,623) and Jim Bryant (2,497) who were defeated in the Arcadia school board election two years ago, emerged as winners in Tuesday's election. The third winner was Mike Allison (2,579). Marilyn Perkins (2,225) finished fourth and was not elected.
Incumbents Gibson, McClain and Romo and challengers Haste, Peritore, and Sonnenberg expressed views in a candidates' forum for the Arcadia School Board election.
Mrs. Johanna Hofer has declared that she will be a write-in candidate for the April 19 School Board election. A vocal critic of the Board, she expressed her views on the issues.
