Results of the new state test called the CAT-6 (California Achievement Test), which replaces the old SAT-9 test, show that around 70% of the students at each grade level in the Arcadia schools are in the national norm of 50th percentile in reading, and half or more of these students tested at or above the 75th percentile. Arcadia Unified School District test scores among highest in Southern California, according to new statewide test results released by California Department of Education. Arcadia scored 40% higher than the state average for math and 26% higher in English language arts/literacy.

In Arcadia, 8 schools increased their Academic Performance Index (API) scores and two declined. Dana Middle School and First Avenue Middle School were the schools that showed declines in API scores.
Arcadia gets top marks in county API scores. Arcadia Unified School District has three of the top four highest scoring middle schools on the Academic Performance Index. Foothills Middle School ranked first, tied with Huntington Middle School in San Marino. First Avenue Middle School and Dana Middle School also ranked in the top four in Los Angeles County.

Arcadia High School "We the People" Constitution Team aka Government Team scores big in Washington DC. They won National Unit Four Award for having the highest combined score of any Unit Four over the two day competition.
Arcadia Unified School District adopts "Common Core," so students in Arcadia will be studying subjects at the same time as students in 46 other states. Arcadia's Baldwin Stocker Elementary School and Pasadena's Roosevelt Elementary have been nominated for National Blue Ribbon honor. The program recognizes some of the highest performing and most improved schools in the nation.
Holly Avenue Elementary is the first school in Arcadia to test a year-round program for students. The year-round school began in 1995. Parents are questioning if other schools should follow.
