The Los Angeles Conservancy gave an F grade to Arcadia, Bradbury, Diamond Bar, El Monte, Industry, La Habra Heights, La Mirada, Monterey Park, Rosemead, Santa Fe Springs, Temple City and Walnut, in a report card of local cities. The cities were judged on whether or not they had an ordinance allowing designation of historic landmarks, how many landmarks are designated, if cities provide for implementation of the Mills Act and other criteria.
For the fifth straight year, more than two dozen local lawyers and judges will provide pro-bono consultation for the public on Saturday, May 3 in observance of Law Day. The free legal clinic will be at the Arcadia Public Library.

Santa Anita Park race track gets into the holiday spirit. The park’s inaugural Winterfest, which launched over the weekend, continues through December 23. The park has transformed into a winter wonderland, giving people the chance to ice skate beneath towering pine trees and dance in snowfall amid 70-degree temperatures. Other activities include holiday movies, a giant snow globe photo booth, a petting zoo, food, shopping, an obstacle course and other rides.

Temple City teenager Melissa Huff, who attends Arcadia High School, has had her two prosthetic legs stolen again, for the third time. The teenager remains strong despite this outrageous crime.
Arcadia will have a Patriotic Reverse Parade and Food Drive. People will drive on the parade route and wave to the "Stars of the parade" who are stationed on the sidewalk on July 2, 2021, 9-11 AM. The "stars" include firefighters, medical and police who have helped the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Canned food donations will be accepted by Foothill Unity Center.
Arcadia's first Lunar New Year Festival (Year of the Monkey) is set for Sunday in downtown Arcadia, will feature traditional Chinese lion and dragon dances at Huntington Drive and Santa Anita Avenue.
