Helen Schrader, editor of the Arcadia Tribune and the Foothill Inter-City Newspapers, is retiring Friday, August 10, 1984. An Arcadia resident for the past 40 years, she has served as editor since 1964. Mrs. Schrader is the widow of Arcadia author, Del Schrader. Biographical notes included.
200 people turned out to honor retired Arcadia Tribune editor, Helen Schrader. The retirement party included mayors and public officials from surrounding communities served by the Foothill Inter-City newspapers which were edited by Mrs. Schrader.

School district gets CAP test scores. Although Arcadia students remained comfortably above the 80th percentile in most categories in California Assessment Program test scores, the influx of Limited English Proficient (LEP) students into the district is having a definite impact. In 1976, there were 63 limited or non-English speaking students in Arcadia school district. As of October 1 this year, 539 students are in the LEP program. 78% of LEP students are Asian; 14 % are Spanish, 2 % European, with the remainder from other cultures. The Otto Winkler home, built in the early 1920's at the corner of Fairview and Baldwin, has been demolished. The history of the era and that of West Arcadia are also given.
Mary Harvey was presented with a Certificate of Honor by the Board of Education for her volunteer work in the English as a second language program at First Avenue. An Arcadia resident since her childhood, Harvey attended First Avenue, taught there and had two of her three children graduate from there.
Ernest "Cal" Ford recently retired after 27 years of driving a school bus for Arcadia School District. Ford is a second generation school bus driver. His father drove a school bus for Arcadia in the 1930's.
