Mrs. Douglas J. Webb, Mrs. Robert H. Brown (Eleanor Harbst Brown) and Mrs. Leonard B. Rodgers will display paintings at the state convention of the AAUW.
The biggest community wide event of the Bicentennial period will be held Sunday October 12 at Arcadia High School. Music, food, dancing, booths. Event will begin at 1:00 P.M.
Water rates in Arcadia will be lowered by $.04 per 100 cu Ft effective July 1, 1979. The burden of the water tax, now split 50% each by the city and property owners, will fall 100% on property owners. However, the increased property tax is tax deductible.
All-city picnic will be held October 12 to fete the Bicentennial. Music, games, etc. are being planned by the Special Events Committee of the Arcadia Bicentennial Commission.
Kay Okamoto, 73, a former World War II intern in a Wyoming relocation camp, relived the experience after seeing the current film "Come See the Paradise", which features two of her grandsons, Brian and Scott, working as extras in two scenes.
Robert Berlien, who has been head of the Glendora Municipal Water Department for 9 years, has been named Water Manager for Arcadia, replacing John Grivich, who retired in June.
Paintings of two Arcadia watercolor artists, Dorothy Browdy Kushner and Herrica Hartmetz, will be displayed in the California Water Color Society's 37th National Exhibition.
