Michael Dougherty of Boy Scout Troop 103 has attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Fewer than two percent of all scouts nationally earn the Eagle rank, the highest honor that can be achieved in the Boy Scouts of America.

Arcadia Chief of Police, Neal Johnson, has been appointed chairman of an anti-drug program sponsored by the San Gabriel Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
The Boy's Christian League will not be permitted to distribute literature through the schools unless the Arcadia School Board changes its policy. National organizations such as the Scouts, the YWCA and the YMCA now have this permission.
The Arcadia Rotary Club has announced a major building program at the Casa Hogar Lazaro Cardenas, an orphan's home in Tijuana, Mexico for 100 children. Members of the Tijuana Rotary Club have agreed to provide one-third of the costs of the project.
The Rotary Club of Arcadia made its annual Christmas caravan bearing food and gifts to the Lazero Cardenas Orphanage and the Santa Teresita Home near Tijuana, Mexico. A new all-purpose building, financed and built by the Arcadia and Tijuana Rotary Clubs, was dedicated at Lazero.
