A plaque in honor of Officer Albert E. Matthies, the only Arcadia police officer killed in the line of duty, will be dedicated by the Police Department on July 9th. Attending will be Officer Matthies' two daughters, Minnie Matthies and Zora Kristufek.
Gregory Ramos, 18, of Downey was discovered unconscious in a jail cell at the Arcadia City Jail. A routine jail check revealed that Ramos had used his jail linen to fashion a noose in an attempt to strangle himself.
A woman shot in Arcadia early Monday morning appears to be a case of suicide rather than murder. Joseph Frank Randazzo is still being held for suspicion of murder while the investigation continues.
Jerry Collins Picnic Pavilion dedication ceremony will be held July 19, 2016 at Wilderness Park at 2240 N. Highland Oaks Drive in Arcadia. There is a memorial plaque to commemorate his life. Cherry Liu, a Sierra Madre City employee was murdered August 1 in a tragic murder-suicide in the 800 block of Sunset Boulevard in Arcadia. Her estranged husband Mel Liu died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger offers $20,000 reward in Arcadia investigation into heinous murder of Chyong Jen Tsai, a 76-year-old Arcadia woman, whose body was found on April 9, 2019 in her backyard in 300 block of East Forest Avenue. Her 2005 Lexus RX300 is believed to have been stolen from her home.
The Arcadia Police Department is turning to the public for assistance with the homicide investigation of Mr. Shao-wu Yen, who was struck and killed one year ago by a small pickup while waiting to cross the street at the intersection of Holly and Fairview Avenues.

Metro to improve 210 Freeway barriers, after a series of crashes over the last 2 years involved cars and trucks landing on the Gold Line tracks. Metro plans to install taller, stronger barriers and a detection system on 6 miles of right-of-way down the middle of the 210 Freeway in Pasadena and Arcadia.
