Arcadia police arrested two Arcadia High School students 16, and 15, in connection with a December 11 racial incident in which a cross was burned and anti-Asian epithets were scrawled on the front yard of a home in the 200 block of Arbolada Drive. The two boys were booked for damaging property based on ethnic origin and were released to the custody of their parents.
Jef Wheeler, 26, a jazz dance teacher at Arcadia Dance Arts for two years, is currently touring with "Heart Strings" an AIDS benefit sponsored by the Design Alliance to Combat AIDS and the Design Industries Foundation for AIDS. John Allsbury, 39, the Arcadia auto broker accused of felony grand theft, was found guilty of nine felony counts of grand theft and nine misdemeanor counts of operating his auto brokerage without a state license. Sentencing was scheduled for March 9 in Los Angeles Superior Court.

In an informal, long-range planning session, City Council members made a new library and police station two of their top priorities. Last month, the council approves spending $55,000 to hire a consultant, to be chosen at the June 19th meeting, to draw up plans for a new library to replace the overcrowded library.

Donald D. Pellegrino, 53, died of a heart attack Christmas Eve during a family gathering at his Arcadia home. The 35-year Arcadia resident was elected to the City Council in 1978 and served as mayor in 1982, 1983, and 1985 during his 8 years on the panel. Photo.

A request from a group of parents that the play "Secrets", dealing with AIDS and birth control, be cancelled at Foothills Junior High has been unanimously denied by the Arcadia Board of Education. Sponsored by Kaiser Permanente and performed throughout the state, the play was requested by parents at the junior high level after it was shown last year at Arcadia High School.
