A college diploma dated February 13, 1942 from the University of California at Berkeley will be awarded to Arcadia resident Edward Tokshi. Tokshi was sent to a Japanese-American detainment camp in 1942 during his senior year at Berkeley. Forced to relocate away from the West Coast after the war, Tokshi completed degree requirements in Chicago.
This summer marks the 10th season of the Arcadia Repertory Theater. The two plays offered this year are "Once in a Lifetime" and "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown."
A group of eight intends to roller skate from Arcadia to Las Vegas and back again, a trip which should set a speed and endurance record and earn a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. City Council has voted to purchase Monrovia's Chapman Well and reservoir. In addition Arcadia will exchange 951 acre feet of water rights in the San Gabriel Basin for the same amount now owned by Monrovia in the Raymond Basin.
The city may use eminent domain to secure the Peter Kiewit property at 301 E. Santa Clara Street. Republic Development Co., which has a contract to develop the area, has asked the City Council's help in securing the property.
