Jack in the Box officials blamed a food poisoning outbreak that led to one death and the hospitalization of at least 70 persons from Seattle to San Diego on a shipment of contaminated hamburgers traced to Arcadia-based Vons. Vons has denied its meat processing plant in El Monte was the source of the problem.
Jack in the Box announced it will no longer buy hamburger patties from Vons. This comes a week after a severe food poisoning outbreak linked to Jack in the Box left 2 children dead and at least 75 people hospitalized.
About 100 people, mostly members of the Arcadia Business Association, came to support the City Council's downtown design plan by displaying balloons and banners at a City Council meeting.
The Arcadia City Planning Commission voted unanimously to allow McDonald's restaurants to open an "Express" restaurant at 1311-B South Baldwin Ave. This will be the second "Express" restaurant in the state; "Express" refers to the limited hours of operation (daily 8 AM to 9 PM), menu, and lack of drive-through services.
Opening at Santa Anita Fashion Park on June 24, 1995, Boxes of Fun features rubber stamps, personalized gifts, clip art for computers, and more. The store is profiled.
