Sam and Louise LaCorte have collected 24,671 signatures from people opposed to the parole of Richard Lanill Johnson, the man who killed their daughter. Johnson was convicted of shooting and killing Catherine LaCorte and Robert Morton in the foothills above Arcadia on February 11, 1976.

When filing closed for three seats on the City Council, nine candidates remained in the running. Johnson, Worsley and Speirs are likely to draw support from the Tax Reform Committee that helped elect Haltom and Dring. Another group will try to re-elect Pelegrino and elect Hannah and Lojeski. Also running are Chivetta, Hofer and Brockus.

Richard Honaker was promoted from Lieutenant to captain of the Arcadia Police Department, filling the vacancy caused by the promotion of Neal Johnson to chief of police.
Sue Wallace, owner-operator of the Turnquist Dog School, has been training dogs for 35 years at Arcadia County Park. A decline in the city's dog population is eroding her once thriving business.
The Arcadia High School Apache Marching Band won the Sweepstakes Award at the annual state championship All-Western Band Review for the third consecutive year which earns them the perpetual trophy. This makes the third time they have won the perpetual trophy which goes to a school that has won the Sweepstakes Award three times in a row. This is a "first" in the All-Western Band Review.
