Official groundbreaking ceremony for the Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage's Education Center will take place September 29. The 2600 square feet Center will include classrooms and lecture hall, on the site behind the Community Center and in front of the Museum.
Proposed logistics center in Arcadia could impact traffic and El Monte residents. A former gravel mine (quarry) may soon become a 1.6 million square foot logistics center and industrial park on an 81-acre site on the southeastern end of Arcadia. Property owner is John Edwards, Jr. El Monte City Manager Jesus Gomez is working with Arcadia and the developer to protect El Monte residents. With enough mitigation measures, if approved by Arcadia City Council, construction could begin after the reclamation is complete, as early as 2017.
Hale Medical Center office building planned at 289 W. Huntington Drive in Arcadia breaks ground. Construction began last week on the $20 million four-story medical office building in the southern parking lot of Santa Anita Park that will connect to Arcadia Methodist Hospital via a footbridge.
Jerry Collins Picnic Pavilion dedication ceremony will be held July 19, 2016 at Wilderness Park at 2240 N. Highland Oaks Drive in Arcadia. There is a memorial plaque to commemorate his life. Iconic Arcadia windmill will turn, turn, turn. Former Arcadia Mayor George Fasching spearheaded the effort to get Denny's windmill running again. Restoration work will begin soon, with June as the target for the windmill to run again. The windmill was the trademark for Van de Kamp's Holland Dutch Bakery, which was at this site, at the corner of Huntington Drive and Santa Anita Avenue, in 1967.
Arcadia man Chuck Misner, 77, reunites with his old muscle car, his 'Lil Chevy Wonder, a 1966 Chevy II Super Sport. He originally bought it in 1966 and won many drag races with it. The car's current owner is Joe Staffilino of Steubenville, OH. Misner went to see Staffilino and got to drive his old car again. Misner provided Staffilino with original sales documentation that authenticates the vehicle. Staffilino has been offered $100,000 for this rare car, but he won't sell.

Santa Anita Realty Enterprises won a long-awaited victory late Wednesday as the City Council tentatively granted a commercial land-use designation for an area that could serve as the site of a major entertainment center.
The Arcadia Community Center now offers a meal program with a charge of $3, as there in no federal funding for this program. The Center offers a variety of programs, from skilled nursing care to government benefits counseling to recreation programs to dances and free movies.
The City Council approved final architectural plans for a new $2.6 million fire station to be built by March 1994 at the corner of Baldwin Avenue and Huntington Drive.
Arcadia Transit Plaza dedication ceremony held November 6, 2014. It is located at 99 Santa Clara Street, at First Avenue, where the Gold Line Station in Arcadia is being built. It will serve as a transportation hub and a gathering space for the community. Many VIPs attended (photos).
