A group of eight intends to roller skate from Arcadia to Las Vegas and back again, a trip which should set a speed and endurance record and earn a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. The marathon, under the leadership of Ed Schriener, hopes to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Arcadia High School's Marching Band, Tall Flags, and Tom Tom Drill Team took the Sweepstakes Award for street competition at the Mt. Carmel Invitational Tournament of Bands, October 24.
Despite the protests of relatives and friends of the victims, 21 year old Arcadian Jim Bates will face only misdemeanor charges for the freeway deaths of two people.
