Edna Lenz, responsible for many of the water color paintings of historic places in Arcadia, died October 8 in St. Louis at the age of 88. Biographical notes included.
Louis Pappas, First Avenue Junior High School history teacher, has been appointed assistant principal at Foothills Junior High School. Pappas will succeed Dr. Donald Smith who is retiring January 28.
For the first time in the history of the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce, 2 women will receive the Citizen of the Year Award. Mrs. Dottie Burnett and Mrs. June Fee were chosen for the honor from among 10 nominees.
Arcadia joined the San Gabriel Valley Mosquito Abatement District, making it one of the last cities in the valley to participate in a mosquito control program. The program is designed to monitor mosquitos that transmit St. Louis encephalitis, a sometimes fatal viral disease.
