Arcadia jet fighter pilot Richard Norton killed in Twentynine Palms crash. He was a U.S. Marine and a major. He died in the F/A-18C Hornet crash on July 28, during a training exercise.

Teen is killed and another was shot by off-duty Customs and Border Protection officer after the boys allegedly attacked and tried to rob him in Arcadia, at about 8:15 PM in the area of Colorado Boulevard and 1st Avenue, on May 26, 2017. A third teen that was involved ran away.
The California Redistricting Commission released reapportionment maps for the state's congressional and legislative districts that could change the political landscape of the San Gabriel Valley and Whittier areas. In the Assembly, this may mean that a new Asian-heavy district from Monterey Park to Arcadia is created. A final vote is required by August 15.
Murder suspect Deyun "Jeff" Shi appears in court on April 18, 2016 to face arraignment in the brutal slayings of his two nephews William Lin and Anthony Lin, on January 22, 2016. The arraignment was delayed until May 2. Shi was extradited to the U.S. from Hong Kong on April 15.
Profile on Arcadia High School senior Ammar Moussa, a runner that has won CIF-Southern Section and CIF State Division I championships. Moussa may be the best distance runner in Apaches history and Coach Jim O'Brien says Moussa is the best he has coached in his 15 years at Arcadia High School.
The Westfield Santa Anita mall will be adding new tenants and is expected to submit plans for a new anchor store. Red Robin restaurant is scheduled to open in the open-air Promenade section by the end of the year. Forever 21 may move into the Robinsons May space and Target may be an anchor store.
Based on the description and surveillance video, Arcadia police believe the same man may have robbed two 7-Eleven stores this month. The most recent robbery took place on May 20 at the 7-Eleven at Live Oak and Tyler Avenues. The previous crime occurred on May 10 at the 7-Eleven at 1003 S. Baldwin Avenue in Arcadia.
Six candidates vying for two seats on Arcadia City Council in the April 12 all-mail-in ballot. Current Mayor Gary Kovacic is terming out this year and Councilman Mickey Segal is not seeking re-election. Among those running are three former city councilman-- Peter Amundson, Bob Harbicht, and Sheng Chang. Also running are Burton L. Lack of train cars may delay the openings of the Expo Line Phase 2 from Culver City to Santa Monica and the Gold Line Foothill Extension from Pasadena to Azusa. Metro reports delivery of rail cars won't be complete until January 2017, while construction of the extensions should be done July/August (Expo) and late September (Gold Line), of 2015. The builder of the train cars is Kinkisharyo International, a Japanese company that is assembling the light rail trains in Palmdale, California. The Expo Line needs 42 cars and the Gold Line needs 15.
