City Councilman, Gary Kovacic, is asking locals to write about memories of Arcadia. The collection of essays will be published in a book titled "Visions of Arcadia: A Centennial Anthology."
On December 5, the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce will honor Gary L. Thomas, Arcadia resident and the 2003 President of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association. Thomas, a 41 year member was elected to the Executive Committee in 1995.
62-year-old Gary J. DiSano of San Juan Capistrano, formerly of Arcadia, is the new Tournament of Roses president. He unveiled the theme for next year's parade: "2010: a cut above the rest." He has been a Tournament of Roses volunteer since 1972.
In a Council meeting frought with political tension, Gary Kovacic was chosen for his second term as Mayor, and new-comer Mickey Segal was named Mayor pro tem.
The seven finalists have been selected for the Royal Court for the 2006 Rose Parade. One princess is Alyssa Jones, 18, of Arcadia, who attends Pasadena City College.
