City of Arcadia to implement two new restrictions on plastic waste in 2022. Phase One will restrict the distribution of disposable food service ware items such as utensils, napkins and condiment packets to by-request only, beginning February 3. Phase Two will prohibit the use of polystyrene containers for prepared food and beverages and will require the containers be made from alternative materials, beginning December 3.

Some evacuation orders lifted-Bobcat Fire. Sierra Madre and Arcadia residents okayed to return to their homes starting yesterday (Wednesday) at 4 PM. By Wednesday evening the fire had grown to 46,263 acres with containment still at 3%.
Santa Anita Park to host Breeders' Cup for a record 11th time, in 2023. Local horsemen were overjoyed at the announcement. Santa Anita Park is still the only track to host the Breeders' Cup for 3 consecutive years, in 2012-2014.
Arcadia Senior Services is partnering with Arcadia Chinese Association to celebrate Chinese New Year on Friday, February 3, at the Arcadia Community Center, 365 Campus Drive. It's an event for age 50 and over and the cost is $10 per person.

Horse dies from training injury at Santa Anita Park. Echosmith, a baby gelding, 3-years-old, from Ireland died Sunday. The horse was owned by Benowitz Family Trust, CYBT, Michael Nentwig, and Ray Pagano. His trainer was Jonathan Wong and jockey was Jessica Pyfer.
