In Loving Memory of Jean Irwin Lewis, Aug. 21, 1914 - Nov. 7, 2006. Jean was born in El Monte, California. She was the school nurse at Rosemead High School for 26 years. After retirement in 1976, Jean enjoyed traveling and her second home in Mexico. She has been active with the Arcadia Senior Friendship Club and the Arcadia Presbyterian Church. Jean always had a zest for living and enjoyed new experiences. Her husband, Jim Lewis, and daughter, Sally Lash, survive her. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, Covina, in her name.

Details have been released on the deaths of Alan Cheung of Monterey Park and Edward Chin of Arcadia. Their charred bodies were found in the desert, west of the Barstow (15) Freeway on October 26, 2003.

Obituary/death notice. Wilfred C. "Bill" Stroud of Arcadia, who started with a store in Pasadena and built the Stroud's chain into the largest specialty linen retailer in California, died at age 77.
After five years of filing applications and lobbying in Washington, D C., Arcadia and Sierra Madre will share $6.5 million in federal funding to improve the earthquake safety of both cities' reservoirs.
A 3-year-old boy died when the car he was riding in was struck by a stolen vehicle being chased by Arcadia Police. The suspect that stole the car has been identified as Sara Bravo, 26, of La Puente.
Horse racing at Fairplex Park started its 64th season at the Los Angeles County Fair. Earlier this summer officials proposed moving the races to Santa Anita Park. The California horse Racing Board denied their request on June 26.
Grant Chu, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ming R. Chu of Arcadia, received a Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
