Wallace Wells was sentenced to 6 years for vehicle manslaughter. Arcadia residents Kevin Bruggeman and Melissa Dicke were killed when Wells ran a stop sign and hit their car.
Manny Romero, owner of Rod's Grill, has initiated Measure A to try to block the Rusnak Mercedes Benz automobile dealership from expanding. The city has put out a counter measure, Measure B, to citizens to vote on at the May 8 election.
City officials resume talks with Rusnak Mercedes-Benz about its expansion now that Measure B has passed. The Church in Arcadia will move to Live Oak Street.
The state Department of Education has revised its Academic Performance Index rankings. Arcadia Unified School District revisions were: Baldwin Stocker Elementary from 4 to 7; Highland Oaks Elementary from 7 to 8; and Holly Avenue Elementary from 8 to 7.
Measure B was approved by voters yesterday. This will allow Rusnak Mercedes Benz to move ahead with expansion plans. The City of Arcadia will not be able to use eminent domain as a tool for redevelopment for private use.
Plans are underway for "Peacock Corner" at the fountain and entrance at Arcadia County Park at Santa Anita Avenue and Huntington Drive. The bronze peacock will be 8 feet tall.

Fuller ethics professor Lewis Smedes died at Methodist Hospital in Arcadia on Thursday, Dec. 19th. Dr. Smedes was a pioneer in forgiveness research and the author of more than 15 books.
A shortage of trauma centers leaves people in the East San Gabriel Valley unprotected. Officials from the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments are upset that the valley received 1.4 percent of Measure B though it paid 19.8 percent of the tax.
