Ringing in the Rose Queen. Camille Kennedy of La Salle High School is crowned 2020 Rose Queen of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses. One woman on the Royal Court of princesses is Rukan Saif of Arcadia High School. The others are Mia Thorsen of Marshall Fundamental School, Emilie Risha of Flintridge Sacred Heart, Reese Saporito of Marshall Fundamental School, Michael Wilkins of Marantha High School and Cole Fox of South Pasadena High School. Laura Farber is the Tournament of Roses President.
A group of friends that grew up together in or near Arcadia, who joined a Camp Fire Girls troop together seven decades ago, reunited 6 years ago and now meet monthly. They are (pictured): Donna Tyler, 81, of Hemet, Sharon Lasken, 80, of Arcadia; Judy Ramaker, 70 of Pasadena, and Marian Walski, 83, of Duarte. They meet at the house of their leader, 97 year old Hazel Williams. Other troop members not shown include Betty Quinn, 81, of La Mirada and Betty Emick, 80 of Claremont.

Taste of Arcadia will take place September 23, 2013 at the Los Angeles County Arboretum, and will feature a red carpet experience, Peter Dills, the official celebrity ambassador of Taste of Arcadia and host of "Dining with Dills" on KABC-AM 790 Talk Radio, Arcadia Mayor Mickey Segal, Daniela Brazil and Oya Brazil Samba Show dancers, Lynda Kay (critically acclaimed singer), filmmaker Adam Ravetch, among others. Arcadia Unified School District (AUSD) hosted its first ever Fireside Chat to talk about personalized learning becoming the future of education. Keynote speakers were Superintendent David Vannasdall and Board of Education member Kay Kinsler.
