Arcadia Police Chief David Hinig bestowed the Police Department's Medal of Merit on Detective Stan Flores and Life Saving medals on patrol officers John Jurman and Jennifer Casillas.
A Los Angeles County firefighter, 41-year-old Richard M. Burk of San Dimas, is suing Arcadia Police Department for $500+ in damages, citing false arrest, defamation and emotional distress. He was arrested April 4 at the Derby Restaurant for fighting and public drunkenness.

Richard Baisner, an Arcadia man with a history of mental health issues, was shocked by Pasadena police with a Taser weapon during an arrest. He died about an hour later.
Ryan Brock, 29, of San Gabriel, was shot several times in the chest Wednesday, April 13, 2005 in the parking lot of 99 Ranch Market and later died. Police believe it was not a random robbery gone bad but there may have been a relationship between the suspect and the victim. The suspect appeared to be Latino, around age 20. Police are seeking help from witnesses.
Obituary/death notice. Restaurateur Sue Campoy, who owned and operated Julienne in San Marino, CA, has died of breast cancer. She died on March 4, at the age of 70. She was born in Arcadia on February 10, 1939.
Robert Seares, born in Pasadena in 1909, had an amazing career as a journalist, photographer, and police official. He was chief of police in Arcadia and remained there for 15 years until retirement. He wrote a memoir called "Eighty Years: a Memoir." A copy is in the Pasadena Museum of History library.
Since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City and the Pentagon in Washington DC, Police Chief Dave Hinig said the Arcadia Police Department has evolved and is thinking beyond local crime enforcement. Officers are thinking more regionally and are more conscious of calling the bomb squad.
