Police arrrested an Arcadia juvenile after he allegedly sideswiped a United States Mail carrier's vehicle and then fled the scene at Second Avenue and El Dorado. His license plate was left at the scene.
The Automatic License Plate Recognition system will soon be implemented at Westfield Santa Anita Shoppingtown and Santa Anita Park race track to monitor vehicles entering and exiting. License plate numbers will be run through criminal databases.

Lou Carno has been an Arcadia resident for 53 years and is a longtime horse trainer. One of his early jobs was working as a groom for race horse Seabiscuit's owner, C.S. Howard. Carno served in the U.S. Marine Corps, earned his CA Trainers License in 1952. He trained for celebrity horse owners such as Betty Grable, Desi Arnaz, and Burt Bacharach, and others. He is 83 now and semi-retired.
The statue saluting Hugo Reid and his family will be donated to Arcadia by the county if the city pays cost of moving it and restoring the parkland. It will be moved to a spot near the Arcadia Historical Museum.
Jazz musician and historian John Lucas died in March of complications from pneumonia at age 84. The Arcadia resident overcame rheumatioid arthritis to become an accomplished performer.
Arcadia Police are cracking down on parents who drop off their children at Arcadia High School in red zones or by double parking. Police are using a video camera that records the violation and the violator's license plate. Violators receive a $30 citation in the mail. Police hope this will discourage unsafe practices.
Arcadia resident Gary R. Dimkich has been appointed to the Los Angeles County Beach Commission. He is a graduate of California State University Los Angeles and owns DeLacey's Club 41 restaurant in Pasadena.
