William Woolard, 50, Arcadia Planning Director for 22 years, resigned at the recommendation of City Manager Don Duckworth and a 4-1 City Council vote, with Robert Harbicht opposed. Woolard was asked to leave because of departmental reorganization, Duckworth said.
Arcadia father William (Bill) Morales, finally achieves college degree at age 50. He graduated from Cal State Los Angeles, with a bachelor's degree in business administration last week.

William Kelly has been appointed Arcadia City Manager after holding the Acting City Manager position for 7 months following the resignation of Donald Duckworth. Kelly began working for the city as a community development director in November, 1993.
Arcadia City Manager Bill Kelly, 58, is leaving his job to be a consultant in the private sector. He feels it is time to leave because many of the projects he had overseen in recent years have been completed or are on track to be completed.
Gerald A. Parker, last years's City Employee of the Year, has been appointed director of finance. Parker replaces Alan Murphy, who died earlier this month after a long battle with cancer.

Arcadian Wilfred (Bill) Schmitt, who has served as legal counsel for the Carmelite Sisters for over 20 years, is the 1993 recipient of the Golden Spirit Humanitarian Award presented by the Board of Directors, the Foundation Board of Trustees, and the Carmelite Sisters of Santa Teresita Hospital in Duarte.
William Howard "Bill" Lewis, 50, a longtime Arcadia resident and community leader, died Friday at Methodist Hospital in Arcadia following a heart attack.

In an informal, long-range planning session, City Council members made a new library and police station two of their top priorities. Last month, the council approves spending $55,000 to hire a consultant, to be chosen at the June 19th meeting, to draw up plans for a new library to replace the overcrowded library.
