An ordinance has been adopted to regulate adult entertainment facilities as Arcadia faces the opening of a juice bar/alcohol free nude dancing club planned for 1580 Clark Street. A possible lawsuit was planned if the City denied the business from opening.
The nude juice bar nearing completion at 1580 Clark Street asked for changes in the adult entertainment ordinance which requires the six-foot separation between dancers and customers.
An adult cabaret, its owners and ten dancers, have filed a civil complaint suit against the city of Arcadia, stemming from an investigation by police into code compliance.
Golden Eyes, the controversial nude juice bar which calls itself an "upscale gentlemen's club," opened wednesday without fanfare in an industrial section of southeast Arcadia.
A 2-year-old legal battle between the city of Arcadia and Taboo Gentlemen's Club, a strip club, will most likely result in the club being closed or sold off by April, 2009. The federal court case started when the city revoked Taboo Gentlemen's Club's business license for breaking the city's adult business codes. The club's owners Bill Badi Gammoh and Chawkat Jajieh sued in response, claiming city and police had obstructed business and violated their civil rights. The city's adult business ordinance prohibits lap dances, sexual contact, private dance booths and direct tipping. It requires licensed dancers to perform on an elevated stage.
Threatened with a law suit, Arcadia may relax an ordinance governing adult business, clearing the way for an all-nude striptease club proposed for an industrial area.
Paul Gann and his People's Advocate have withdrawn from the lawsuit pending against the city of Arcadia. The Arcadia Tax Reform Committee has not yet decided whether to file an amended complaint.
Dance permits for parties at the Women's Club automatically are denied until the city's Business License Review Committee specifies conditions such as when the music will end, when people must leave, and maximum capacity. The new rules follow complaints against partygoers at a wedding reception in November.
