Despite concerns from some local businesses that a Saturday farmers' market is hurting their sales, the City Council voted 3-2 to fund the market for another six months.
The Saturday Farmers Market will continue for at least another six months. Arcadia Business Association operates the event and estimate that 22,000 have visited the market in the last 8 months.
It was announced at Tuesday night's Arcadia Council meeting that the Arcadia Farmer's Market would cease to exist, following this Saturday's installment.
City Council approved closing First Avenue between Alta and California Streets from 6 AM to 1 PM on Saturdays from April 18 through Oct. 31. for a Farmer's Market.
Arcadia Downtown Street Market now on Saturdays, 5-9 PM. It is run by Green Leaf Events on First Avenue between Santa Clara Street and Huntington Drive.

Organizers of the 626 Night Market at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, estimate as many as 50,000 people attended the recent 3 night run of the event. The event featured Asian street food booths and other vendors and entertainment.
Riders head to Pasadena, not Los Angeles. Ridership on the Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension is surpassing expectations. The east Pasadena to Azusa/Glendora extension, which opened March 5 is carrying 4000-5000 riders on weekdays and 3800 to 4000 on Saturday and Sunday. 18 percent of the riders from Arcadia Station went to Pasadena.
