Demolition permits have been approved and the project of building new homes where the Anoakia mansion stands is now underway. Artifacts from the mansion have been given to the Arcadia Historical Society and the Arboretum.

Li Zhu, a 68-year-old Arcadia man suspected in the death of his daughter-in-law, Xiaolin Li, was found dead in his jail cell at Twin Towers Correctional Facility at 450 Bauchett Street in Los Angeles. Deputies found him hanging in his cell, in an apparent suicide.
Arcadia Historical Society reenacts true local crime at a mystery dinner party, as a fundraiser. It took place at the gardens of Prince Erik Hall, where the historical society is located.

An informal committee of some 15 people was initiated by the Arcadia Historical Society in mid-September in an effort to preserve the old Anoakia School site, now that the school has relocated to Duarte.
Residents fighting to save the historic Anoakia mansion from development lost a court battle, as a judge upheld the city's decision to allow demolition of the property.
The preliminary design for the Arcadia Historical Museum has been approved by the city council but more money is still needed to build the museum. Fundraising will be done by the Arcadia Historical Society.
With the Arcadia Historical Society museum building now completed on the inside, the society's board of directors is planning to appoint committees to catalog and determine how to display its collection of artifacts.
The Arcadia Historical Society is launched on a membership drive as it works toward establishing a museum to house artifacts of historic significance to Arcadia's early days.
The City of Arcadia has contracted with Gonzalez Goodale Architects to plan for a new City Hall. Both Upper and Lower City Hall buildings will be torn down after completion of the new facility.
A ninth historical marker, presented by Arcadia Historical society, will be dedicated on October 2 near the main entrance of the Los Angeles County Arboretum. This "History Lives Here" marker showcases vintage photographs and descriptions of the history and evolution of the Arboretum, which was once the home of Arcadia founder Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin. The Ruth and Charles Gilb Arcadia Historical Museum is now in a city-owned building, with a curator paid through the city, and is managed by the library and museum director Janet Sporleder. The Arcadia Historical Society owns the collection and a new agreement commits the city and the society to jointly pay for an insurance policy.
