Arcadia Senior Services is partnering with Arcadia Chinese Association to celebrate Chinese New Year on Friday, February 3, at the Arcadia Community Center, 365 Campus Drive. It's an event for age 50 and over and the cost is $10 per person.

Arcadia Police Department launches Weibo page, a Chinese-based social media website, similar to Facebook and Twitter. Its participation on Weibo will enhance the department's ability to engage and communicate with a specific portion of the Arcadia community, with postings in simplified Chinese. City of Arcadia in partnership with Arcadia Chinese Association, will offer a free Ask-a-Lawyer Program on Saturday, May 19, 10 AM - 1 PM at the Arcadia Public Library, to celebrate Law Day. This is the 20th consecutive year this free public service has been offered by the City of Arcadia and Arcadia Chinese Association.
Recently, about 140 people attended the 16th Annual Law Day at Arcadia Public Library. This free Ask-a-Lawyer Program is a joint effort of the City of Arcadia and the Arcadia Chinese Association.

Arcadia Public Library Foundation donates over $16,000 to Arcadia Public Library. The money will be used to fund Kaleidoscope Classical Concerts, more chairs for the library auditorium, more new adult Chinese language materials, more copies of best seller e-books, updated software for the preschool computers, and updated performances rights DVDs for Children's programming.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta allows lawsuit over Arcadia City Council appointment to proceed. HQH Chinese American Equalization Association and Arcadia Voters Rights Group are suing to challenge the appointment of Michael Danielson, representing District 5, which was vacant after the death of Council Member Roger Chandler. Danielson's term expires upon certification of the November 8 election results.

Arcadia Unified School District celebrates grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony of the Compressed Natural Gas Station. It was made possible by nearly $500,000 in grants from California Energy Commission and Mobile Source Air Pollution Review Committee. The new CNG station is estimated to save the district up to $40,000 in fuel and maintenance costs per year.
The body of missing Arcadia firefighter Mike Herdman was found by rescuers in the Sespe Wilderness yesterday. He went missing June 13. Cause of death is pending an autopsy. Herdman would have turned 37 tomorrow. He is survived by a wife and 6-year-old daughter.
Dr. Brent Forsee, Principal of Arcadia High School for seven years now, is being recommended as next Arcadia Unified School District Assistant Superintendent. If approved, Dr. Forsee would succeed Dr. Jeff Wilson, who is being recommended as next Superintendent of San Marino Unified School District.
