The Arcadia branch of the California School Employees Association and the Board of Education have come to an agreement on a new contract that will give the non-teaching, non-administrative employees a 5.755 raise retroactive to July 1, 1986.
Non-teaching employees in the Arcadia Unified School district have voted against the implementation of a merit system to monitor such activities as hiring and promotion.
The Arcadia Board of Education has offered the California School Employees Association and the Arcadia Pupil Support Services Association a 4.7% raise for 1985-86. Arthur Farr, 46, the band and orchestra leader at Dana Junior High School, has been named the Arcadia Unified School District's 1990 Teacher of the Year. Farr has been teaching band and orchestra at Dana for 23 years, as well as coaching the basketball team and teaching physical education. Contract negotiations with employees in Arcadia Unified School District are moving slowly or not at all, according to John Sinclair, associate superintendent. District has applied for impasse status, which would mean appointment of a mediator.

Isabelle Stires is retiring after 19 years in the Arcadia Unified School District. This past year Mrs. Stires has been teaching second grade at Camino Grove School. Before that she taught second and third graded at Bonita Park School. She and her husband plan to travel.
