Arcadia-based Girl Scouts Mt Wilson Vista Council has launched a $3.9 million fundraising campaign to deal with the councils growth in the San Gabriel Valley. Marlee Matlin is the honorary campaign chair.
Mount Wilson Vista Girl Scout Council will host a benefit dinner to raise funds for its "Pathway to Promise" program. The program reaches out to girls in underserved areas such as Montebello, El Monte, Rosemead and San Gabriel.
Local residents and merchants have bought commemorative street banners which bear the inscription "Celebrating Arcadia's Centennial: 1903-2003" alongside their own name. Banners will be up January 1 and will hang until December 31, 2003.

Two Arcadia High School girls have been chosen as members of the 2009 Tournament of Roses Royal Court. They are Courtney Chou Lee and Lauren Valenzuela.
On December 5, the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce will honor Gary L. Thomas, Arcadia resident and the 2003 President of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association. Thomas, a 41 year member was elected to the Executive Committee in 1995.

Arcadia held its 7th annual Law Day on Saturday, May 14, 2005. About 230 people attended this year-twice as many as last year. Lawyer and former Arcadia mayor Gary A. Kovacic founded the event and planned it in conjunction with the Arcadia Chinese Association.
