Police believe it was not a random robbery gone bad but there may have been a relationship between the suspect and the victim. The suspect appeared to be Latino, around age 20. Police are seeking help from witnesses.
Justo Cesar Morales, 25, of Arcadia, was shot to death and found in his parents' home in the 2200 block of Canyon Road. The slaying has stunned residents in this upscale neighborhood.
Sushi restaurant owner James Wei, 42, was shot dead by a robber who can be seen in surveillance videotape. The restaurant named Osaka Ya is in the Pavilions Shopping Center. Police are seeking the public's help in identifying the gunman.
Police arrested four people, including a 13-year-old, on prostitution-related charges last week by responding to a Craigslist advertisement. Arcadia police spokesperson Sergeant Dean Caputo said the four were arrested at Santa Anita Inn.
Arcadia city council will vote on an ordinance prohibiting loitering by members of street gangs. The ordinance defines a "criminal street gang" as three or more people with a primary activity to commit offenses, such as murder, assault, robbery, or drug-related crimes.
