Sue Wallace, owner-operator of the Turnquist Dog School, has been training dogs for 35 years at Arcadia County Park. A decline in the city's dog population is eroding her once thriving business.
At a meeting of about 200 Anoakia School parents, directors of the school, which has operated on the former estate of Anita Baldwin for 48 years, explained the reasons the school wants to relocate after June 1990. Lowry McCaslin, who owns the property, wants to develop the 20 acre estate.
The Arcadia Christian School has leased the Santa Anita Elementary School which was closed due to declining enrollment. Article describes the school which expects 200 students this year ranging from pre-school through 8th grade.
The Planning Commission directed the planning staff to prepare a resolution permitting Maranatha High School to operate at its present North Santa Anita location.
Barnhart School aims to be the best. Founded in 1959 by Dr. Ethel Barnhart, the school is affiliated with non-denominational Santa Anita Church, K-8th grades.
Maranatha High School students broadcast a weekly program on closed circuit TV as an extra-curricular activity. They have interviewed notable personages on historic and contemporary issues and were involved in election night activities at Reagan headquarters in Century City.
The Anoakia School, soon to be renamed the Anita Oaks School, won a victory against staunch opponents of the relocation when the Duarte City Council unanimously approved the move to property owned by New Life Assembly of God Church.

View east of the front of Santa Anita School, probably shortly after its opening, as shrubbery is small. This school was located at 1900 S. Santa Anita Avenue from about the late 1940s until June 1981. Santa Anita School was built on the site of the second school building built by the City, a two-room red brick building, built in 1913 to house grades 1 and 2. In 1982, Arcadia Christian School moved into this location.
City gives thumbs up for Arroyo Pacific Academy's expansion. It is a private college preparatory high school for local and international students. it is currently at 41 West Santa Clara Street.
