A 30-year old man was shot in an apparent robbery in the parking lot of 99 Ranch Market on Wednesday, April 13, 2005. He was pronounced dead at Huntington Memorial Hospital. The suspect got away.
Ryan Brock, 29, of San Gabriel, was shot several times in the chest Wednesday, April 13, 2005 in the parking lot of 99 Ranch Market and later died. Police believe it was not a random robbery gone bad but there may have been a relationship between the suspect and the victim. The suspect appeared to be Latino, around age 20. Police are seeking help from witnesses.
The murder of Ryan Brock in the 99 Ranch Market parking lot remains unsolved. The city is now offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
At 1:53 PM on April 6, 2004, Arcadia Police Department officers descended on the Arcadia Public Library and arrested two men. One of the two men was seen passing a loaded gun to the other. Librarian Debbie Marks' coments on the incident are included. The men were Trevor Kuk, 21, of Arcadia and Enrique Ayala, 24, of Duarte.
Arcadia police are investigating two separate incidents as possible homicides. One man was shot and killed during a robbery at a motel and a 35 year-old transient woman was found dead at Arcadia County Park.
A 3-year-old boy died when the car he was riding in was struck by a stolen vehicle being chased by Arcadia Police. The suspect that stole the car has been identified as Sara Bravo, 26, of La Puente.
A man in Arcadia tried to grab a 10-year -old boy as he was walking to his grandmother's car from a medical building at 622 Duarte Road. The boy escaped, and the police are looking for the suspect.
Seven of thirty-three finalists will be chosen for the Rose Queen and her Royal Court next week. Two finalists, Stacie Chan and Tiffany Lu, are from Arcadia High School.
Two area businesses were robbed at gunpoint within an hour Tuesday night by men in black ski masks. The first incident happened at a Chevron gas station in Arcadia at 500 N. Santa Anita Avenue. The second happened in Altadena.
Helen Meredith is the founder of Pegasus Ranch in Tehachapi, CA, a place where 60 retired thoroughbreds live. She is struggling financially and estimates that the United Pegasus Foundation is $80,000 in debt. Los Angeles County's median home price is rising. In July, 2009, it was $339,430, up from $319,860 in June 2009, but well below $395,240 a year ago. Broker Chris Vigil thinks the market has hit rock bottom. Arcadia's median home price in July 2009 was $663,000, up from $626,500 a year ago (July, 2008). H & M, a fashion retailer, will open a store at Westfield Shoppingtown Santa Anita on December 14, 2006. The store will have fashions for men, women, teens, and lingerie.
British food giant Tesco is going to open Fresh and Easy Neighborhood Markets in West Covina and Arcadia on November 8, 2007. Fresh and Easy stores are relatively small and lean heavily on fresh food offerings, including prepared meals and sushi.
