Some members of Arcadia Christian Academy's boys basketball team acted as heroes after a 65 year-old woman lost control of her Mercedes and ran it through a group of children and adults in Eagle Rock, where the team attended a game. The boys ran to the scene and helped lift the car off two children and an adult. There were no fatalities.

Duarte resident Daniel Delgado, 25, died after crashing into a tree in the 12000 block of Lower Azusa Road in Arcadia. Witnesses say he had been driving recklessly before he lost control.

The Arcadia Board of Education will lease 200 square feet of property at Dana Middle School to AT&T to install a cellular phone tower. The lease will be for 5 years with a minimum bid of $18,000 per year.
After hearing of local girl Melissa Huff's loss of a prosthetic leg during a burglary, Rescomm Financial of Arcadia, decided to buy a replacement leg for her.
The drill team from Dana Junior High School marched off with the sweepstakes award at the 43rd annual Camellia Festival Parade in Temple City, while the band, tall flags and drum major (military) all captured first place trophies.
Richard Dana intermediate school to open doors for first time. It is the second educational plant serving 7th and 8th grades, the other being First Avenue School. Dana's first principal is Joseph Bagnall. The modern school was designed by Boyd Georgi and Lee Kline, the same architects who planned the buildings at Camino Grove Elementary. A flag identifying Foothills Junior High as a distinguished secondary school for 1987-88 is now in place below Old Glory on the flagpole in front of the school.
Methodist Hospital of Southern California's current major capital building project, construction of a new surgical unit and outpatient services center in Arcadia, has received a $60,000, 5-year grant from the Security Pacific Foundation. Ground breaking for the $9.2 million surgical wing and outpatient center will take place in February.
This season's Arcadia High School girls basketball team's defense is notable, having forced 41 turnovers at Flintridge Sacred Heart. Stars on the Apaches team are 6'2" junior Michelle Lai, Dana Yamada (photo), Melody Chang (photo), Julianna Okamoto, Melody Cazarin, and Joy Kang.
Arcadia residents Lucia Jimenez and her father Byron are shown in a photo. Lucia is in remission from a disease called reflex sympathetic dystrophy, or RSD. Dana Gambill is raising awareness of RSD and runs a support group for disease sufferers in Pasadena.
