Less than 48 hours after the official debut of the pilot episode of HBO's "Luck" series, the cable television network has already ordered a second season. It is filmed at Santa Anita Park and various locations in Arcadia, including Rod's Grill, among other cities in the region. Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte star in it.
A proposed land deal will allow Rusnak Mercedes-Benz dealership to expand and Rod's Grill will not have to move. The Arcadia Redevelopment Agency has acquired the Dahlgren lot on Santa Clara Street, the last parcel of a 2-acre site it intends to sell to Rusnak. This sale would enable Rusnak to expand from 4 to 6 acres. A public hearing is scheduled for April 19. In addition to the recently acquired Dahlgren property, the current proposed site also includes the former Church of Arcadia on Morlan Place and a commercial strip along Santa Anita Avenue that contains 16 tenants. The proposed deal guarantees the city would receive at least $800,000 in sales tax a year for the next 10 years.

HBO, the cable network will start filming the first episodes of a horse racing series starring Dustin Hoffman on October 31, at Santa Anita Park. The series is called "Luck," about the various players of horse racing. Filming for the first year's episodes is expected to run through mid-April.
Spotlight on Mexican restaurant called Original Peppers Mexican Grill and Cantina, a family-oriented, family-owned restaurant at 181 Colorado Place, that has been serving the area for almost 40 years. Chef Amador Cortez has been running the kitchen for over 30 years. Co-owner is Virginia Disegna.

She is a seventeen year old La Canada High School senior and will reign over the 122nd Rose Parade. Six student-made murals line Arcadia High School’s halls. The murals are painted every fall by students in the Art Honors classes. The tradition of murals being painted traces all the way back to the 1980s.
