The Golden Apple Award was given to Jim and Sharon Eberhardt for outstanding community leadership, especially for volunteering in support of education in Arcadia.
First Avenue PTA honored three volunteers for their commitment and support of children at First Avenue Middle School and their community. The three were Elizabeth Renfrew, Pat Medina, and Teri Deimel.
Volunteers In Patrol is a new program to be launched by the Police Department. Volunteers will be trained to conduct vacation house checks, provide subpoena service, deliver documents, handle transportation details, direct traffic, school patrols and parking enforcement.

Arcadia Public Library received a $30,000 donation from the Friends of the Arcadia Library volunteers. The money will help pay for programs and materials.
Twenty-three high school students from throughout the San Gabriel Valley were honored for their volunteer community service. The 2003 Youth Volunteer Award program was held at the Arcadia Community Center. Those recognized from Arcadia are Kelly Cole, Hannah Han, Jennifer Hsieh, and Heather Sayers.
