Arcadia High School student Nathan Chou earns rare perfect score on Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus BC Exam. Chou is one of just 11 students in the world that reached perfection on this test. Nathan was born and raised in Arcadia.
Martial arts champion, Hollywood actress, and stunt woman, Jing Li, is a martial arts instructor at Washu Action Star Academy in Temple City. She will be a guest at the Arcadia Branch of the American Association of University Women on Monday, November 12. She will present a program about Washu, an exhibition, and full contact sport, and view the documentary film "Autumn Gem," in which Jing Li has a starring role. PETA sues Arcadia over cruel plan to snare, slaughter coyotes. In the lawsuit, PETA alleges that because City Council voted to approve the plan on February 21 without first performing an environmental impact assessment, which is required under the California Environmental Quality Act, its decision is illegal. Arcadia Transit launches expanded shuttle service with three fixed routes starting June 16. It will also operate as a Dial-a-Ride service for senior citizens and the disabled. Arcadia Transit has served the community since 1975.
Arcadia Senior Services is partnering with Arcadia Chinese Association to celebrate Chinese New Year on Friday, February 3, at the Arcadia Community Center, 365 Campus Drive. It's an event for age 50 and over and the cost is $10 per person.

Suspicious fire on January 1, 2013 engulfed a detached 2-car garage next to a recently vacated single family home in the 200 block of East El Camino Real in Arcadia. The estimated damages are $30,000+. No one was injured.
Pasadena Tournament of Roses announces 2024 Rose Queen Naomi Stillitano, a senior from Arcadia High School. She is the 105th Rose Queen, lives in Arcadia, is co-president of Italian Culture Club, a dancer and actress with the Arcadia Stage Theater. Born and raised in Italy for 7 years, with goal to create her own fashion brand, interested in studying fashion design. The Rose Queen and the Rose Court act as ambassadors of the Tournament of Roses, the Pasadena community, and the greater Los Angeles area. Each Royal Court member receives a $7500 educational scholarship.
