Breeders' Cup: Sport of Kings shines in Southern California at Santa Anita Park. The main attraction on Saturday, the second day, was the Classic, a 1 1/4 mile race that featured California Chrome and several other top thoroughbreds, including Jim Rome-owned horse Shared Belief, Robert Evans-owned horse Tonalist and Bob Baffert-trained Bayern. Breeders' Cup Classic's controversy was an extremely hot topic. The three-member panel of Scott Chaney, Tom Ward, and Kim Sawyer looked at the start of Saturday's $5 million race immediately afterward, saw eventual winner Bayern veer in sharply at the start, severely impeding Shared Belief and Moreno, and determined the incident did not warrant a disqualification.

Breeders' Cup World Championships the "Super Bowl of horse racing" took place at at Santa Anita Park yesterday and Friday. Attendance was 55,123 on Saturday. Jockey Brian Hernandez, Jr., on horse Fort Larned, won the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic on Saturday, and horse Wise Dan won the $2 million Breeders' Cup Mile.
