Arcadia Fire Chief Kurt Norwood announces his retirement. He began his career in Arcadia in March, 1987 as a firefighter. His last day will be July 9. See also Mountain Views News, p. 6, June 18, 2016.
Arcadia Police Department has a new police chief. His name is Bob Guthrie and has been serving as interim police chief since Bob Sanderson retired in April. He joined the Arcadia Police Department as a cadet in 1989.
Jerry Collins Picnic Pavilion dedication ceremony will be held July 19, 2016 at Wilderness Park at 2240 N. Highland Oaks Drive in Arcadia. There is a memorial plaque to commemorate his life. Six Arcadia police recruits graduate from Rio Hondo Police Academy. They are pictured with Arcadia Police Chief Bob Guthrie and captains Larry Goodman and Paul Foley. Arcadia Police Records Bureau has new hours effective Sunday, September 23, 2012, operating 6 AM to 10 PM daily. The police department lobby will remain open for community access to the online reporting system and overnight parking permit (TOPEC) machine.
Arcadia Fire Department responded to a $40,000 structure fire in the 200 block of E. Haven Avenue in Arcadia. No one was injured. It was a single-story single-family dwelling.

Firefighter receives third degree burns in Monrovia arson fire. Arcadia Fire Captain Thomas Devlin was injured in fire at a business at 335 West Chestnut Avenue in Monrovia on December 26, 2015. Suspect commits suicide.
Arcadia Fire Department responded to a hazardous materials spill at San Carlos Road, on January 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM. The spill was contained and was not released into storm drain system. The substance was identified as muriatic acid. Neutralization techniques were implemented to abate the hazard.
Arcadia firefighters reunite with girl they saved in 2008. Ten years later they give Ashley Barrancos a birthday party at Arcadia Fire Station 105. As a two year old, she had cardiac arrest, now she is twelve years old.
Arcadia firefighter/paramedic Michael Herdman was remembered as a devoted father and animal lover, at a memorial service yesterday, at Arcadia Performing Arts Center. Hundreds attended.
